Installing Windows Store Apps to External Storage

Be sure to install all Windows 10 updates as there are great new features that get added like the ability to install Windows Store apps to external storage. For users that have a small SSD hard drive or tablets with little storage space this is a big change.

In order to make use of this go to START>SETTINGS>SYSTEM>STORAGE after having connected the storage to your PC. From there, click the drop-down menu under “New apps will save to” and select the external storage device that you want to use.

Now you can install all those apps you previously didn’t have room for. Enjoy!

How to keep Windows 10 performing like a greyhound!

One of the ways to help keep Windows 10 optimized is to use the Windows 10 Troubleshooter. This too can help find performance problems and solve them. In order to launch it, type troubleshooting into the search box, and click the “Troubleshooting Control Panel” icon that appears. Next, click “Run maintenance tasks” in the System and Security section of the screen that appears. A screen titled “Troubleshoot and help prevent computer problems” will appear. Click Next.

The troubleshooter will find files and shortcuts you don’t use, help identify any performance and other issues on your PC, report them to you and then fix them. You may receive a message that says, “Try troubleshooting as an administrator.” If you do have administrative rights to the PC, click it and the troubleshooter will launch and do its work.

Stop chasing your tail and get optimized!

Microsoft Word Tips

If you use information from a lot of online sources, copying the information directly into Word can alter how it is displayed. A lot of the time you may not want to keep the original formatting. Pasting without formatting is faster as well. To do that, copy some text from the source. Launch Microsoft Word and click on the paste menu.

Click the Paste Unformatted button to insert text without formatting. It is also possible to set this as a default.

Typing Tips

Ever find yourself tapping backspace or holding it forever to erase a large word? Instead try Control + Backspace to erase the entire word instead of just the character.

Pasting in plain text (without formatting): Use Control + Shift + V instead of just Control + V and you will paste plain text, with no formatting, this is super handy when copying something into an email or form!
